Who do you trust with the future?

2015-10-17-13-47-24Matthew 11:28-30

“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

Well, after months and months the US election is now over.   The media is still rippling with news of what was expected and what the results are.   Our opinions may differ in who we believe won or should have won and for a variety of reasons.   I have a question for you now though, who do you trust with the future?

Many people have eluded to a rise in fear of the future because of the results of the US Election and the up and coming president elect himself.   Social media and the general over all media has been huge in fueling that fear with stories and quotes all the way along.   Darwin has a vice in his shop and the more you turn the handle the tighter it gets on the specific object in its grip.  The intent of that vice is to hold the object so it can’t be moved, but can be manipulated.   The way of the media is like that grip, it can hold us with fear so that our thoughts and actions can be manipulated.   Unlike the wood that Darwin uses, we have a choice.   We must make a big decision.   Who holds the future?

If we give into fear and its grip on us then we are being controlled through the “prowling” of the devil and his ways.   Fear can make people ill and irrational turning them into people filled with paranoia.   If we take fear whether it be about political outcome, or health outcome, or worry for a loved one and let it brew inside us then he will manipulate us while in his “fear grip”.   If we take our burdens and fears to the feet of Jesus knowing that the future is in His hands our fear will be soothed with the promise of peace that comes from Him.  The bible is filled with verses assuring us of His comfort to us and that He will carry our burdens.

At this time of change in the US if it carries with it a measure of fear for you, take a few minutes to read the verse from today again.  Let the assurance that Jesus holds the future and you can trust Him with your fear bring you to His feet.  Rest in Him and give Him your fear, He is trustworthy and loves you deeply… your future is safe with HIm.

Love, Hugs n’ Prayers
