Why even wear gear?

Protection is the main purpose for the gear we wore when on our motorcycle.  There is a lot of danger seen and unseen out there.  Our motorcycle gear would have done nothing the day of the accident if we left it in the trunk of the bike or at home, but we did wear it, and it worked far greater than we could have ever anticipated.

The verses over the next weeks we are going to use is Ephesians 6:10-20  please take a few minutes each week to review it, read it and then think on it a bit see where it takes you in your journey.

The verses start off with this (vs 10-13):

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his power.  Put on the whole armor of God, so that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For our struggle is not against enemies of blood and flesh, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers of this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.  Therefore take up the whole armor of God, so that you may be able to withstand on that evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.”  Ephesian 6:10-13

“Be strong in the Lord and in the strength of HIS power”.   We don’t have to ask for His strength and power, we need only be strong in our faith, don’t doubt, He is there!.  Faith is unseen, but gives gateways to seeing God’s hand work in and around our lives, many times in ways we are not even aware of.  We have only to put on the gear using faith, focusing on Him, praying, reading His word and to trust in His strength and power.  It is pretty clear there is danger around when we are given instruction to put on our armour.  The verses give the reason why too, “to stand against the wiles of the devil.  For our struggle is not against enemies of blood and flesh, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers of this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places”.   Doesn’t get much clearer than that!

The road held dangers for us, and the Goldwing Road Riders Association encouraged everyone often  “all the gear, all the time” because of those dangers.  God instructs us through the letter to the Ephesians that we need to do the same because the devil is just waiting for us to be unprotected and “ride” blissfully ignorant of the spiritual dangers in life.  “All the gear all the time” might not be in the Bible in those words but you will see how the Whole Armour of God is important through this “ride” through life.   Vs 13 “Therefore take up the whole armor of God, so that you may be able to withstand on that evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.”   Sounds close to all the gear all the time don’t you think?

Take time today to seriously look at the armour of God, you don’t need to wait for me.  Get the armour on, be protected in this crazy life we live.  See you next week

Love, Hugs n Prayers,

Jackie
