Battle Plan

There are many movies from the silver screen that have gripping, edge of seat battle scenes.   The ones that stand out to me are the ones where they show the star of the show (the Commander) in place, ready to lead his soldiers into battle.  Armour on, confident and trusted by all he commands.   He isn’t standing on the sidelines, he is ready to first put himself into battle with the others at his side.    The music is intense and you know the battle is about to begin.

We might not hear the intense music playing in the background, but the battle is there and we need to be ready to fight!   The Commander of our battle isn’t a Hollywood star, He hasn’t had a fancy make up job but the scars on his hands, feet and sides are the evidence of the war He has won.  He is standing there by our side, each moment, each day watching for the prowling enemy.

Be sober minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.  Resist him, firm in your faith, ,knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world.”     1 Peter 5:8,9

Over this time in my life the armour of God means much more than it ever has.   Life happens, accidents happen, people make bad choices, some of those bad decisions have been mine and some bad decisions have changed the life of those I love , in all of that, the Commander is there.   He has left the Holy Spirit with us to fight back the attacks of the enemy.

As we have gone through the whole armour of God I hope you have recognized your part in the battle.   Fasten on your belt of truth, put on the breastplate of righteousness, wear your Shoes of readiness given by the gospel of peace, take up the sheild of Faith, take the helmet of Salvation and the sword of the Spirit.    We have been given the tools of protection and defense in the spiritual battles we face.   Have you noticed how each piece of the armour points to Jesus?   It is together a beautiful picture of our Lord, Saviour, Redeemer, and Friend – Jesus Christ.  When we put on the armour of God we are putting on the armour  –  Jesus.    He is our all in all!

To you that are weary and worn, from one that is weary and worn at this time in my life – fight back!  Put on your armour and make it clear to Satan he CANNOT have you or the circumstances that surround you.  Wear your armour with confidence that the war is won by the one who covers you with His blood and salvation.

Fight on!  We might not hear the music going into battle, but one day the music of victory will be what we hear when we are finally in the presence of Jesus.

“Then I heard what seemed to be the voice of a great multitude, like the roar of many waters and like the sound of mighty peals of thunder, crying out, “Hallelujah! For the Lord our God the Almighty reigns.  Let us rejoice and exult and give him the glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his Bride has made herself ready; it was granted her to clothe herself with fine linen, bright and pure”- for the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints. And the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.” And he said to me, “These are the true words of God.”  Revelation 19:6-9
