Muscle Cars and Me

For those of you who have recently begun following my blog and Facebook page, thank you!  For those of you who have been with me for awhile..thank you!   If we have met you know that I never seem to run out of words, that applies here too.  Life to me is like a series of analogies.   So many things happen in a day that I think, hummm that would be good as a pondering, or thought, or devotional for my blog.  Then, here I sit, laptop, cup of tea and I write.

Those that know me well know that I have several loves in my life.   My love for Jesus and the amazing ways I have seen Him in my own life in real ways stands as my first love.   Then of course is the most amazing man a woman could ever want, (note I didn’t say perfect lol.  I am not perfect so we are a perfect match.).  He gives my heart reason to beat.

My children, all four of them and of course my grandchildren fill my heart with purpose, tears, laughter, worry, joy and always, always pride.   Then we have my four

legged best buddy, Rusty.   He is a sweet Cave-Shell dog that steals your heart and makes you laugh.  He brings calm to my soul and a sense of always being loved.   When I go out for a few hours I come home and he has stolen one of my slippers and has slept on it while I’ve been gone, it is the warm one.  Now, if that isn’t love I don’t know what is.

Then comes a love that I can’t explain.   I really know nothing about cars.   I was in the first girls mechanics class in school (1970’s) and we were given a woodworking teacher who knew nothing about mechanics… so, I didn’t learn much, but I didn’t need to… I loved the cars in those days.   Dad got his oil changed dozens of times that year because he was the only brave father to let “girls” work on his vehicle.  (1962 Chev Belair, 4 door). I love vehicles, especially the old muscle cars! (The pictures of the cars I am putting on here are not my own cars but rather WordPress stock pictures.).   I love cars… have I said that yet?

Some of my favourites are:

  • 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu.     I associate that car with a guy I had a crush on in Bible College.   I sometimes wonder if the crush was on him or his car!
  • 1966 Beaumont  I remember as a kid seeing this style of car in our neighbourhood and even as a little girl I had to stop, and take a good look.
  • 1967 Shelby Cobra.  This one always reminds me of Elvis ( I have no idea if this car was the type in the movie, all I knew is that it was a Shelby) .  All the while I loved his eyes, and his “jail house rock”, this type of car stood out to me and made my heart skip a beat.

I have lots of favourites, actually all the old muscle cars hold dear to my heart.   Why?  The lines, and the colors, but… mostly…… it is….. the SOUND OF THOSE ENGINES!.  The rumble, the shutter, ohhhh I love it!   I don’t own one, and likely never will.  I don’t like to drive them fast or spin their tires, I just love to look and listen.   I know nothing about the torque, or the gas mileage, or the pistons… all I know is that when I fall in love I don’t need to know “everything”.

I fell in love with Darwin after 10 days…married him 6 months later…. 36 years for us this year.  I didn’t know everything about him, but I “knew” it was right.   I fell in love with the idea of being a mother, mother in law and grandmother…. I didn’t know what that looked like but I “knew” it was right.

I don’t know everything about God either.  I have lots of questions and I get confused but the day I opened my heart to Him I “knew” it was right.   My blog is about all things faith related because He penetrates everything in my life.   So now that I have added a new category to my blog “Muscle Car Lover”, know that when I post things about cars I love that I will always have something to say about how it all ties into my faith.    He is in everything in my life, even my love for cars.

Watch for new blog posts from any of the categories I like to write on and feel free to comment either below or on my Facebook page “Heartbeats House”.  I would love to hear what you think and if ever you find an article on some amazing muscle car that you think I should share, shoot me a message and I will share it with the others that follow my blog.    Have a wonderful sunny Saturday and thanks again for taking a few minutes to read my thoughts for the day.

Hugs n Prayers
