Politicians: Virus and Voting

Over the past months and years we have been called to vote provincially and federally. We have the privilege and freedom to vote in our amazing country of Canada and it is something we should never take for granted. With everything that is happening right now with Covid-19 and the affects on our communities, province, country and world the politicians are in a position that not one of them would have had any indication that they would have had to face.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau Link of where you can send a message of encouragement

Dr. Theresa Tam I can’t find contact information for her.

Premier John Horgan. Email: premier@gov.bc.ca

Dr. Bonnie Henry Email: Bonnie.Henry@gov.bc.ca

Adrian Dix Email: HLTH.Minister@gov.bc.ca

These are but a few names that are in the spotlight during this time. We may not have voted the doctors in directly but they have been selected for their job carefully, and as is showing at a time like this, the choice was a good one.

I may not have voted for our current Premier or Prime Minister, but I am so very thankful for the actions and dedication they have shown during a time such as now. When political party is pushed a side and the people of Canada are considered first is when true colours are shown. I just deleted a very long paragraph on all the things that I appreciate about each of the people listed above. The point of this blog post is not to be a list, but rather a plea. Please, take time to pray for these people and their families as they maneuver through a ground full of landmines of the unknown.

“And we urge you, brothers, admonish the idle, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with them all. See that no one repays anyone evil for evil, but always seek to do good to one another and to everyone.” 1 Thessalonians 5: 14,15

As we walk through this time it is important to encourage and support those in authority around us. We need to pray for them, and find ways to lift them up. Sending an email, a social media post or even a phone call to their office. Politicians are still people and will need to know people are behind them at this time. You can be sure people will voice displeasure, let’s make sure we voice our heart of thanks.
